Top things to see and do at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic

Do you have your tickets yet? Are you planning on coming?

You can still get in at the door. And Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever want you there. Whether your plan is set or if you’re on the fence, here are just 11 of the reasons you should be excited about coming to National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic at Omaha’s CHGI Center March 11- 13.

11» Path to the Uplands Stage Seminars

Every day of the show, every half hour in fact, will see this stage absolutely jam-packed with everything the “wannabe,” or “new” bird hunter needs to know to get involved in upland bird hunting or get better at it. Women on the Wing is an integral part of Path to the Uplands. Full disclosure: Seasoned hunters hang like back and learn at this stage too.

10» Youth Village

Bring the whole family! Kids love going to you the Youth Village at the show, where PF & QF’s Education & Outreach Team, supported by the organization’s National Youth Leadership Council members, will offer a variety of fun and hands-on activities for kids. Be sure to ask about the Conservation Career & Natural Resources Career Fair too.

Stopping at Booth 725 and saying ‘‘thanks for all you do for upland conservation” to the show’s Presenting Sponsor makes for a great visit … and you’ll also see what’s new for upland loads this year.

8» Habitat Help Desk

Whether you have a few acres or a few thousand, PF & QF biologists will be staffing the Habitat Help Desk and ready to help you navigate an upland habitat plan and all the conservation programs available. These services are free.

7» Bird Dog Parade

If you can make it for Friday’s bird dog parade at 11:00, it’s always unforgettable to see all the different and wonderful breeds of bird dogs.

6» Public Lands State of the Union … and HAPPY HOUR!

Come to the Public Lands Pavilion Stage at 4:00 p.m. Saturday for a panel discussion on the state of, and the future for, public lands in North America … a subject near and dear to every uplander’s heart.  This one will be packed, so arrive on time. Then stick around for the Public Lands Happy Hour at 5:00, sponsored by Leinenkugel’s.

5» Public Land Pheasant Hunting Session

While we are talking the Public Lands Stage, and in the spirit of a shameless plug, come to my “7 Traits of the Successful Public Land Pheasant Hunter” seminar at 5:00 Friday or noon Sunday.

4» Pollinator Plaza

Everybody loves butterflies and bees … hosted by wildflowers of every color and description. Stop by the Pollinator Plaza to discover what’s new in the world of pollinator habitat, and see how to make your yard, acreage, farm or ranch a butterfly and bee haven.

3» North American Grasslands Act Panel

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s president and CEO, Howard Vincent, will be joined by the chief executives of some of the nation’s leading conservation organizations to discuss a path forward for the North American Grasslands Conservation Act. Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on the Habitat Stage.

1» A Show Floor Amble

When it comes right down to it, taking a few hours to leisurely wander the Show Floor is one of the best ways to experience Pheasants Fest & Quail Classic. Bird dogs (and puppies), shotguns, outfitters, boots and clothes and hunting equipment, wild game processing, outfitters, all-terrain vehicles of every description, habitat management, art and collectibles … wander the displays of almost 200 vendors and make some new friends along the way.
