South Dakotan Andrew Johnson took his veteran Labrador retriever, “Indi,” out for a career-closing pheasant hunt. “The trip was probably more for me than the dog. I was hoping he would flush one bird, that's all I wanted,” Johnson said. Johnson and his fellow pheasant hunters walked a piece of grass near Parkston, S.D. “Our group of four shot nine birds in one pass, and while we were all talking near the end of the field, Indi got birdy - he was pouncing on a tuft of grass. I told the others he was on a bird.  After some encouragement, Indi dove into the cover one last time and popped this rooster out. It was his bird.”
