Student Requirements

  • Age: 12 to 19 years
  • Able to hold a mounted shotgun to their shoulder for 20 seconds
  • Hunter Education graduate
  • Idaho hunting license or Hunting Passport required for hunt

Course Description

The class will meet the following Sundays: 8/30/26, 9/6/26, 9/13/26, 9/20/26, and 9/27/26. The first four class meetings will take place at the Caldwell Gun Club from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.


A morning hunt of planted gamebirds will take place on Saturday, 10/3/26, at K Bar T Pheasant Preserve located 30 minutes east of Boise. The students will be paired with a mentor and dog handler who will assist them in hunting and harvesting planted game birds. 


Returning Students

Returning students are requested to wait until 8/10 to sign up for the course to ensure new students have access to the program.
