Pheasants Forever, Inc. (PF), in coordination with the National Park Service (NPS), is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to implement site preparation and restoration activities across approximately 30 acres of degraded grassland habitat within Pea Ridge National Military Park (Arkansas).This park unit is located on the periphery of the Mark Twain National Forest, contain remnant savanna systems that have been substantially impacted by invasive, non-native plant species. The intent of this solicitation is to secure professional services to prepare these sites for native prairie reconstruction through targeted herbicide application, followed by native seed establishment and subsequent maintenance.

The primary objective of this project is to reduce the dominance of invasive perennial grasses and forbs—specifically Johnsongrass, Bermudagrass, Tall Fescue, and Sericea lespedeza—and to reestablish diverse tallgrass prairie communities that support ecological function and habitat quality. Site preparation will focus on the application of glyphosate herbicide across both project units, totaling three treatments timed to maximize efficacy and ensure adequate vegetation control prior to seeding. These applications are anticipated to occur in early June, early August, and early October of 2026. Contractors will be responsible for providing all herbicide, adjuvants, and application equipment necessary to complete treatments in accordance with NPS-approved protocols.

The 12 Corners unit at Pea Ridge National Military Park, encompasses approximately 29.32 acres of relatively flat, loamy soils within a scattered savanna landscape on the western edge of the park. This unit currently exhibits a high proportion of non-native grass cover and will require comprehensive treatment to prepare for native seed establishment using no-till drilling or hydroseeding methods. Contractors will be expected to coordinate with park staff to ensure appropriate signage and public awareness during active restoration activities. This RFQ will close on October 2nd, 2026.
