Pheasants Forever is excited to announce the newest local chapter in Pennsylvania, based in Huntingdon, Bedford, and Blair counties. The Raystown Pheasants Forever Chapter is determined to create higher quality upland habitat throughout the pheasant range while improving hunting experiences for the communities it serves.
Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over fundraising dollars, allowing volunteers to support impactful wildlife habitat projects, public access initiatives, and conservation education programs throughout the upland bird range. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s Pennsylvania regional representative, Kurt Bond, will work closely with the new chapter to support the organization’s vision to sustain abundant populations of wild pheasants, quail, and other wildlife.
“It’s very exciting to see this group take off,” said Bond. “Not only are they filling a regional gap in Pheasants Forever representation for Pennsylvania, but they are also going to create more memorable upland hunting experiences through habitat projects.”
There are many large pieces of public land that haven’t received much attention in terms of habitat conservation in Huntingdon County, including land around Raystown Lake. Chapter members are united in their desire to focus on habitat enhancement projects for these important tracts, helping create higher quality habitat for pheasants and other wildlife. Through these projects, volunteers hope to encourage more youth involvement and support for the organization’s mission.
