44 Breeds, 100 Bird Dogs: The Annual Bird Dog Parade Kicks off Pheasant Fest in Minneapolis

The annual Bird Dog Parade will once again kick-off National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2017 at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday, February 17 at 11 a.m. Presented by Federal Premium Ammunition, National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic will take over Minneapolis, Minnesota the weekend of February 17, 18 & 19. This year’s show will feature the largest Bird Dog Parade to date with over 40 breeds and 100 bird dogs participating.
 
At 11 a.m. on Friday, a crowd will gather to see flushers, pointers, setters, and retrievers on parade at the Minneapolis Convention Center in the grand opening of the nation’s largest upland event. The parade’s grand marshals will be Minnesota Bound television hosts, Ron and Laura Schara, with their dogs Raven and Bacon.
 
The 2017 Bird Dog Parade, presented by Purina Pro Plan and South Dakota Tourism, prides itself on showcasing the diversity that exists among our beloved sporting dog breeds. The emcees for the parade are Bob St.Pierre and Billy Hildebrand with FAN Outdoors radio on KFAN FM100.3, joined by retired Purina sporting dog expert, Bob West.

National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic – Friday Show Highlights

On Friday, after the Bird Dog Parade and ribbon cutting ceremony, the show floor will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with seminars on dog training, wild game cooking, habitat management, and upland hunting taking place every hour. At 5 p.m. doors open to the Bird Hunters Banquet. This evening event requires a Friday night banquet ticket purchase and features musical entertainment by Gary West performing his top rated Johnny Cash Tribute Show.
