Strong winds followed by plummeting temperatures and steady rain greeted the Rooster Road Trip crew as we put boots on the ground in central Montana. But what’s a hunting trip without a little adversity?

Ignoring Mother Nature, the groups’ determined attitudes and energetic dogs made accomplishing our first goal of covering as many miles as possible a sure thing. Our second goal of sliding a few birds into our vests was yet to be determined. However, we were confident that the Pheasants Forever Wolf Creek and Coffee Creek Block Management areas had the potential to be prolific… But would our mixed bag dreams of flushing roosters, sharp-tailed grouse, and Hungarian partridge be fulfilled or dashed? Find out for yourself by watching this week’s episode!

Habitat protection, enhancement and public access is at the core of Pheasants Forever’s mission and these key activities are at the heart of our Build a Wildlife Area program. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our members, donors, and supporters, and being able to put boots on the ground in such a spectacular place underscored not only the importance of fighting for these landscapes, but also getting out and experiencing them for yourself. After all, they’re there for you, your friends, your family, and your bird dog.
