Conservationists, outdoor lovers, landowners, upland hunters, shooters and dog owners are all gearing up to attend this year’s National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to be held at the Schaumburg, Illinois Convention Center February 22 - 24. This year’s show brings an exciting new addition: Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are announcing the first annual Women on the Wing Luncheon.

The event offers attendees a pathway to get involved and support more women that are interested in becoming actively engaged in our hunting heritage and wildlife conservation mission. With an all-star line-up of guest speakers, there will be a chance to discuss case studies, gain insight on the vision for the future of conservation and hunting, and highlight the available opportunities the organization has to offer to women.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019 at the Schaumburg Convention Center. A noon meal will be provided after a warm welcome presented by Pheasants Forever’s Erin Holmes and Rachel Bush. After lunch, participants will hear success stories from members who have been actively involved in programs targeted to conservation outreach and women-focused R3 (Recruit, Retain, Reactivate) activities.

CONNECTING WOMEN TO THE OUTDOORS

“We’re providing a platform for women in outdoors that are looking to get started. Whether they shoot with a gun or camera, we hope to help others get outside and find their connection to the outdoors,” says Erin Homes, PF and QF state coordinator for Illinois and Indiana.

Guest speaker Anna Von Nostrand is looking forward to the opportunity to talk with like-minded women in conservation, during the event.   “This luncheon is the perfect timing,” says Von Nostrand. “I’m excited to be amongst women with similar missions, coming together and sharing ideas to make a larger impact in the upland world.”

Von Nostrand is a certified pistol instructor with the NRA and sporting clay instructor with NSCA. She is a member of the CZ-USA pro staff as well. And as a Quail Forever chapter leader, she is no stranger to Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.

“I can’t even put into words what Pheasant Fest did for me last year. People want to know how to get involved. PF/QF is the right place to go,” she says. “Members are conservationists, shooting all-stars, habitat supporters, hunters, dog trainers, you name it. You are going to find that in every chapter.”

Emma Smith, President of Pheasants Forever’s National Youth Leadership Council, has much experience already. The high school senior will be speaking about her local PF chapter, and the work she has been doing with the Outdoor Women’s Life organization.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from Pheasant’s Forever’s Julie Peterson, and Women in Conservation Coordinator Cayla Bendel.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

The luncheon creates a place for conversations surrounding what’s currently taking place now, looks to the future, and provides encouragement to those who want to become more involved.

“We want to discuss challenges. What do we want to see and what opportunities are out there? This luncheon helps show women what’s happening now. If you are excited about this, and want to get involved, we can help you,” says Rachel Bush, PF state coordinator for North Dakota.

TICKET DETAILS

The event costs $40, which includes a plated lunch and a choice of a Pheasants Forever or Quail Forever membership. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
