Upland Habitat Stage Always a Pheasant Fest Highlight

From pheasant and quail habitat to prescribed fire, working lands and more, the Classic’s signature stage for 2022 offers a powerhouse seminar lineup

By Tom Carpenter, Editor at Pheasants Forever

Two factors affect pheasant and quail populations above all others: habitat and weather. While we can’t control the weather, we can influence the quantity and quality of upland habitat on the landscape. That habitat then becomes home for our namesake gamebirds, as well as a host of other upland wildlife including songbirds from bobolinks to meadowlarks, white-tailed deer, butterflies from monarchs to swallowtails, honeybees and bumblebees, and so much more.

That’s why the Habitat Stage at 2022 National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic at is going to be one popular place when the show opens at Omaha’s CHI Health Center on Friday, March 11, running through Sunday, March 13. This year, the stage is being supported by key Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever conservation partners Polaris, Scag Power Equipment, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Farm Service Agency (FSA).

A couple highlights to consider in your show plan:

Saturday morning’s (11:00 a.m.) North American Grasslands Panel is a must-see, featuring the leaders of the top conservation organizations helping spearhead the introduction of this monumental legislation into Congress.

Catch one of Doug Duren’s Sharing the Land Access Initiative presentations to learn about a new approach for linking landowners to access-seeking outdoors people.

Get ready to get your hands dirty with all the idea-filled presentations on creating pheasant havens and quail hideouts.

Here’s the full schedule. We’ll see you there!
