The Public Lands Pavilion at the 2022 National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic features an exciting lineup of dynamic speakers and an exhibitor area celebrating the country’s 800 million acres of prairies, forests, mountains, and public lands open to all Americans for hunting, hiking, and exploring.  With special thanks to Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Ruffed Grouse Society, and Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership as our Public Lands Pavilion sponsoring partners.

National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic will take place at CHI Health Center in Omaha on March 11-13.

Here’s a preview of the impressive roster of speakers we’ve got slated to be speaking on the public lands stage:


A Public Lands State-of-the-Union:

We’ve gathered the leaders of Pheasants Forever, Quail Forever, Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Ruffed Grouse Society, and Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership for a high-powered national public lands panel discussion moderated by Christine Peterson.

Christine Peterson has covered the outdoors as a journalist for a wide array of national publications and serves as the president & board chair of the Outdoor Writers Association of America.  Christine is also an avid bird hunter who hunts public lands with her yellow Lab, husband, and young daughter.

Public Land Opportunities, Threats, and Highlights:

Ryan “Cal” Callaghan MeatEater’s director of conservation and host of Cal’s Week in Review podcast. Cal is also a member of BHA’s board of directors and an avid bird hunter.  He’ll have his bird dog, Snort, along with him at the show.

• WHEN: Throughout the weekend and moderator of the Grasslands Act Panel on the Habitat Stage at 11am on Saturday.

Changing Face of Public Land Hunters

We’re excited to introduce a new panel discussion focused on the growing diversity of audiences hunting public lands featuring Wade Truong, Erica Hill, Durrell Smith, TRCP's Jared Romero, and moderated by BHA’s Katie McKalip.

Public Land Quail from Coast-to-Coast

Quail Forever is the fastest growing segment of our organization with members representing the Southeastern United States, Great Plains, Desert Southwest, and Pacific Northwest.  Our panel will cover quail hunting tips and tactics for the variety of quail species across all of these geographies featuring Dr. Jess McGuire, Tyler Webster, Frank Loncarich, Kyle Hedges, and moderated by Andy Edwards.

John Laux, Nebraska’s upland game program manager, will provide an overview of the state’s signature Open Fields & Waters program opening up private land for public hunting access.

Nebraska’s Open Fields and Waters Program

NGPC_Logo.jpgNational Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic will create more public places for you to hunt. No other sports show in the country can make that statement! Here’s how - all participating public lands exhibitors have agreed to donate 10% of their business’ event proceeds to Nebraska’s signature access effort, the Open Fields and Waters Program.  It’s our goal to raise $75,000 with our partners during National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic to open an additional 10,000 acres of private land for public access for the 2022 season.
