Pollinator Plaza Returning to Pheasant Fest / Quail Classic

Popular Pollinator Plaza Exhibit Space and Habitat Stage Serves Ever-Growing Movement

National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic has always been about more than just game birds and hunting. Everyone who loves the uplands knows that habitat is the key to everything.

One of the best conservation trends to emerge over the last couple years has been the natural strengthening of the conservation bond between grassland habitat and healthy populations of pollinators. Simply put, what’s good for pheasants and quail is also good for bees and butterflies … and vice versa.

That’s why Pollinator Plaza is returning to National Pheasant Fest and Quail Classic in 2018, February 16 - 18 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Classic is expected to draw 20,000+ attendees, and it’s safe to say that most of them are going to spend some time in the Pollinator Plaza – browsing and learning from the multiple exhibits, visiting with pollinator habitat experts, and attending seminars on how to help pollinators thrive in their habitat … whether it’s a thousand acres or a backyard.

“There will be something for everybody in the Pollinator Plaza,” says Drew Larsen, Habitat Education Specialist for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. “At our Landowner Help Desk, our team of biologists will be offering one-on-one habitat and conservation guidance for landowners, farmers, and anyone interested in pollinators. Everybody and anybody can get in on the exciting trend of helping improve pollinator habitat and health.”

“A designated Pollinator Plaza exhibit area will focus on all things related to pollinators,” adds Larsen. “Beekeeping supplies, butterfly organizations, pollinator conservation groups, state and federal agencies … they’re all going to be here offering advice and helping attendees become pollinator promoters.”

The end result of a pollinator-friendly pheasant habitat project. In addition, pollinator-focused seminars at the Habitat Stage will demonstrate how anyone can create a diverse mix of grassland and prairie flowers that will serve as pheasant or quail brood cover while providing essential habitat for butterflies and bees. It’s the ultimate win-win.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are committed to improving pollinator health and populations, and the Pollinator Plaza at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2018 is going to be one of the largest gatherings with a bee and butterfly focus held in the U.S. in 2018.
