Nice article and very good description on how steel functions compared to lead. What I would like to know is why I cannot find 16 gauge steel with any consistency Thanks You.
Nice summary of the evolution of steel shot since the '80s. Tight patterns remain a problem (minor), and I find a true cylinder choke preferable for pheasants and ducks over decoys.
Steel shot should be used for upland hunting like waterfowl it saves the land and animals from being poisoned by lead on ground lead shot should be banned. pass it on Rich G
Thanks PF for giving more coverage to nontoxic ammo - and the need to phase out lead. It's important to the environment and to the public's perception of hunters.
Glad to see PF taking a more active role in "getting the lead out" by publishing articles such as this one. There is simply no reason for any sportsman to be scattering lead pellets all over the country side in this day and age. Now help persuade the gun lobby this is the right thing to do.
