Pheasants Forever is "The Habitat Organization."

Sheboygan, Wis. - February 18 -

Pheasants Forever has named Beth Carreno of Sheboygan as its new Youth Education Coordinator for Wisconsin. The brand new position was made possible with the help of Wisconsin Pheasants Forever chapters, the James E. Dutton Foundation and a grant from the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Pheasants Forever Youth Education Coordinator position is the third such created by the organization, with others in Illinois and Michigan. Carreno will work with the 30 Pheasants Forever chapters in Wisconsin to promote, develop and support education and youth programs under the No Child Left Indoors® initiative, the organization's campaign to encourage youth to spend more time outdoors. She will also work to train educators on how to employ outdoor youth programs in their communities through Pheasants Forever's Leopold Education Project.

Carreno joins "The Habitat Organization" from the Ellwood H. May Environmental Park / Maywood Nature Center, where she was an education specialist. "We are excited to have Beth working with our Wisconsin chapters to get more youth outdoors and involved in conservation with their communities," said Cheryl Riley, Vice President of Education and Outreach for Pheasants Forever. "It's the willingness of our Pheasants Forever chapter volunteers to mentor our next generation that will make a difference - for youth and for our future!"

A native of Kansas, Carreno earned her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources & Environmental Studies from the University of Minnesota. She has also worked previously as the coordinator of education programs with the Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education, and as an environmental scientist with the Division of Water Resources, Kansas Department of Agriculture, as well as the Bureau of Waste Management, Kansas Department of Health & Environment. Carreno can be reached at 920-452-6260 or via email at bcarreno@pheasantsforever.org.

Wisconsin is home to 30 Pheasants Forever chapters and 8,100 Pheasants Forever members. For more information about the organization in the state, contact Kevin Wallenfang, Pheasants Forever Regional Wildlife Biologist, at 608-798-2466 or via email at kwallenfang@pheasantsforever.org.
