Five Question Friday: Ben Streitz

Five Question Friday with Ben Streitz, PF's Director of Special Markets. In a surprise to virtually no one, Streitz won Pheasants Forever's Annual Pie Contest yesterday with his entry "Cherry Berry Pecan Blast." Streitz has dominated the event, taking top honors four out of five years - 2003, 2004, 2005 and again this year.

PF: How would you describe your level of pie expertise?

BS: Right now I'm reaching a summit. I'm very confident and I'm at a point where it's just a matter of finessing things, making minor tweaks here and there.

PF: Where did you get your recipe for your "Cherry Berry Pecan Blast"?

BS: From Betty's Cookbook.

PF: What was your secret ingredient this year?

BS: There were actually two. The cherries and the pecans. I just happened to get to the grocery store and get the cherries at just the right time.

PF: How much did you pay the judges?

BS: None...and that wasn't the case the first few years.

PF: What can we expect from you for next year's event?

BS: I have no idea...I usually come up with something the week before the event.
