INDIANA—SET UP RESERVED AND PUT-AND-TAKE HUNTS ONLINE
Forecast: Indiana pheasants have had a tough go of it in recent years, with declining habitat and poor weather.  And with the position of farmland game research biologist currently vacant, the Indiana Division of Fish and Wildlife has little information to offer on the status of the wild population.

The division does offer special reserved pheasant hunts on game bird habitat areas in Benton, Jasper, Newton, Porter, Warren and White counties. Applicants have until Sept. 26 to choose a date to hunt. (See link below.) A youth pheasant draw is also available.

Put-and-take pheasant hunts are available on Atterbury, Glendale, J. E. Roush Lake, Pigeon River (west of State Road 3), Tri-County, Willow Slough and Winamac fish and wildlife areas. Hunters can reserve put-and-take hunts online from Sept. 1 until midnight Nov. 30. Put-and-take hunts are no longer available on a first-come first-served basis.
