Wanted: Bird Dogs on Parade for National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever will kick off National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2016 presented by Federal Premium in Kansas City with a Bird Dog Parade. Hundreds of spectators are drawn to see the flushers, pointers and retrievers gather, led by their owners, in the grand opening for the nation’s largest upland event. The Bird Dog Parade is presented by Purina Pro Plan and South Dakota Tourism.
 
The Bird Dog Parade is a showcase in the diversity that exists among our beloved sporting dog breeds. In an effort to profile as many bird dog breeds as possible, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever is looking to fill some breed slots. All parade participants will walk the parade route to the ribbon cutting ceremony that opens up the weekend show. Below is a list of breeds Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever want to add to the Bird Dog Parade. If you have one of these breeds, show it off by signing up for the Bird Dog Parade

  • English Cocker Spaniel
  • Flat Coated Retriever
  • Irish Red & White Setter
  • Golden Retriever
  • Llewellin Setter
  • Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever
  • Pudelpointer
  • Weimaraner
  • Wirehaired Vizsla
  • Wirehaired Pointing Griffon

Parade check in will begin around 11:15 am on Friday, February 19th at the Kansas City Convention Center. The parade will begin around noon and last for approximately 45 minutes. Each dog owner and their bird dog will walk the parade route, stopping on the parade stage where their name, dog’s name and breed will be announced before each pair continues on to the show floor.  
 
To participate, please complete the Bird Dog Parade Sign-Up Form and return it to Brian Essling at bessling@pheasantsforever.org or Ilaura Curry at icurry@pheasantsforever.org by Friday, February 12th, 2016.
